By Daniel Jones

Who doesn't like pastry with such a variety of things to choose from with so many assorted tastes and ingredients to create something new at every corner. There are many delicious baked products that fall under the category of pastry such as, cakes, tarts, some cookies and a lot of delicious other baked goods from all around the world.

What makes pastry such a delicacy is the higher fat content that it has over such foods as bread, which is would be considered if it wasn't so fatty. There are a few types of pastry , and I'm sure you would go through the same list. There are shortcrust pastry, flaky pastry, puff pastry, choux pastry and phyllo pastry.

Shortcrust pastry is the most common type of high fat bread that there is. Seen in almost all bakeries that make this type of food is it made with salt, fat, water and flour. These four simple ingredients make a delicious bread that is sometimes used as the foundation to pie. You can also make sweetened shortcrust by using a pastry brush to layer on the sweeter ingredients.

Flaky pastry is a very popular pastry and is used most commonly in appetizers or pies. The buttery coat and flakiness of this creates a wonderful mix for pies or croissants. If you're not sure how to make such a crust or bread, you can always sign up for some online pastry classes that will teach you the ins and outs of pastry making.

Puff pastry is one that has a lot of layers. Because of this layering effect, when heated it chooses to expand in size which is always a nice finish over a bowl.

Choux pastry which is usually made with cream in the middle, is a yummy little treat that you can make very easily. While it's less popular and a little more difficult to make than the regular pastry bread, once it is finished and mastered it is absolutely delicious.

Phyllo pastry are usually served with a thin platter of fruit and some custard mixed in on top. The general thin design of this pastry makes it so that it is very light and easy to consume and mostly for delicate meals and high quality dining.

If you've ever wanted to learn how to make all of the different types of pastry then I would suggest taking some online pastry courses. These courses will teach you a step by step way for you to enhance your family's meals on a daily basis. As well ass, increase their variety of tastes in their palot. Some of the courses can cost all the way up to $1000 or more depending on who the teacher is and the length of the course. However, if you're just looking for simple recipes and easy baking instructions you can always pick up an e-book that will teach you everything that you want to learn.
